| We have completed the American Great Loop! Three years and 7000+ miles since departure in May, 2003 |
| The American Great Loop
Cruise is a 6000
plus mile circumnavigation of the Eastern United States and Canada. By
utilizing the Intercoastal Waterway, rivers, canals and the Great Lakes
we will be able to start and end our adventure in Florida and complete
the entire trip in about 1 year (or 2 or 3). We plan to intersperse our Loop cruise
with other activities so it could take longer. Antebellum cities of the Old South like Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia; gunkholing on Chesapeake Bay; New York City and the Hudson river; the canals and locks of New England; Canada and ore freighters on the Great Lakes; Chicago and the gateway to the Mississippi River. These are some of the highpoints we have to look forward to. We have cruised the Sea of Cortez, mainland Mexico and the coast of California extensively on our 50' sloop Outta Bounds. We also enjoy the time we spend exploring the wonders of Lake Powell in Utah on Island Retreat, our Sharpe houseboat. This will be a new experience for us; waiting for drawbridges to open and visiting backwater villages, learning the mysteries of lock procedures and exploring the great river transport system of this country. We hope to share these moments with you
on this website and look forward to the many new friends we will make on
this adventure. You may also wish to visit
our other website Outta
Bounds. Fair winds and following seas to all. |
